Art Under the Stars: Nit de l’Art in Palma

written by Es Princep / September 29, 2025

Every September, Palma transforms into an open-air stage for art. Streets, galleries, and museums come alive with a special energy during Nit de l’Art, a cultural event that marks the beginning of the city’s art season. For guests staying Es Princep, it is a unique opportunity to experience the city by night from a creative and cosmopolitan perspective.

What is Nit de l’Art?

Nit de l’Art was born in 1997 thanks to the Art Palma Association, which brings together contemporary art galleries in the city. Inspired by similar European events, its aim was to bring art closer to the general public. Over time, it has become one of Mallorca’s most important cultural events, attracting collectors, critics, artists, and art lovers from around the world.

A city turned into a gallery

During Nit de l’Art, Palma becomes one huge open-air gallery. Leading galleries such as Galería Pelaires, Kewenig Palma, and Gerhardt Braun Gallery inaugurate their exhibitions with free entry. Museums and cultural centers like Es Baluard Museu d’Art Contemporani and Casal Solleric also extend their opening hours and offer special activities.

The streets of the Old Town fill with installations, performances, and live music. The atmosphere is festive, with a diverse audience ranging from art experts to families simply strolling and enjoying the surprises along the way.

Art for all audiences

One of the main attractions of Nit de l’Art is its inclusive character. Far from being an exclusive event for collectors, the night is designed to bring contemporary art closer to everyone. Children enjoy street performances and workshops, while adults can attend talks, presentations, or simply wander through exhibitions open until midnight.

An event with international projection

Nit de l’Art has not only strengthened Palma’s role as a cultural hub of the Mediterranean but also placed it firmly on the international contemporary art map. Each year, specialized media highlight the event, and international collectors seize the opportunity to discover both local and international artists.
