From Market to Table: Local Flavours in Palma Just Steps from Es Princep

written by Es Princep / August 25, 2025

The soul of a place is discovered through its food.

In the colours of a freshly picked tomato, in the aroma of freshly baked bread, in the texture of a lovingly aged cheese. In Palma, all it takes is a few minutes' walk from Es Princep to find that soul in markets, shops and culinary corners that speak of tradition, land and flavour.

Today, we invite you on a delicious journey to discover the essence of Mallorca through its local products, all just steps from the hotel.

A Walk Through Palma’s Most Authentic Markets

The markets of Palma are much more than shopping destinations: they are meeting points, living spaces where generations, aromas and cultures come together.

The Mercado de Santa Catalina, located in one of the city’s most charismatic neighbourhoods, is ideal for those seeking a local experience with style. Here you’ll find seasonal fruits and vegetables, ultra-fresh fish, artisan cheeses, traditional cured meats and tapas bars nestled among the stalls.

If you're in Palma on a Tuesday or Saturday morning, don't miss the Eco Market in Plaza de los Patines. Everything sold there—vegetables, bread, jams, wine, honey—comes directly from local and organic producers. It’s the perfect plan for those who value sustainability and zero-kilometre products.

Want to explore even more? We also recommend a visit to the Mercado del Olivar, Palma’s largest indoor market, filled with high-quality local produce and a vibrant atmosphere.

Shops That Taste Like Mallorca

Just a short walk from Es Princep, you’ll find some of Palma’s finest gourmet stores. Carefully curated spaces, full of history and flavour, where you can get lost among aromas and textures.

One of our favourites is Fornet de la Soca, a bakery with soul that revives forgotten Mallorcan pastry recipes, many of which are certified with the Slow Food label. Don’t miss their ensaïmada de tallades or savoury coca breads.

For gourmet lovers, Sal de Ibiza – Palma is a little paradise. While its name evokes another island, the store features top-quality Mallorcan oils, wines, jams and salts among its premium products.

If olive oil is your thing, look for the Oli de Mallorca seal —a designation of origin that guarantees authenticity and quality. You’ll find it in many shops in the city centre, or you can even arrange a visit to a local estate through our reception team.

Taste Palma Without Leaving Es Princep

After a day of shopping and discovery, what could be better than continuing to enjoy local flavours without even leaving the hotel?

At the Almaq Rooftop, you’ll find a menu full of Mediterranean essence paired with unbeatable views over Palma Bay. If you’d like to take a piece of Mallorca home, be sure to stop by the display of local products available right at the rooftop —many of them featured on the menu.

You can also toast to the island’s flavours at Gremium, our signature cocktail bar, where local ingredients inspire surprising combinations.

Looking for a more personalised experience? Our reception team will be delighted to help you arrange a private tasting, a visit to an organic estate, or even a Mallorcan cooking class.

An Island to Savour

Mallorca is a land of flavour, tradition and products with soul.
From Es Princep, luxury isn’t only in comfort or sea views —it’s also in the chance to discover an authentic city through its flavours. And as always, it all begins with a walk.
